Metal grip is a co-polymer consisting of base repair material and epoxy resin, and is designed for superior dressing of deep ski and snowboard base gouges. It is able to bond with all core materials such as wood, fibreglass and carbon, and also to metal edges when the damage is close to a ski or snowboard edge.
Nothing is effective as Metal Grip, and this black polymer is the strongest available. Do not be tempted to use a clear version - the black polymer offers a more secure dressing to then add standard material over the top, for professional level repairs not possible otherwise.
Directions for use:- Fully clean out the damage area and if possible create a v shape, much like a canyon, to help the material be drawn to the base of the damage for a more secure fixing.
- Using a hot plate base repair tool, an iron on maximum setting or a Base Doc repair soldering iron, carefully melt the material and dress the repair. ALWAYS do this in a well ventilated area.
- Allow the material to cool at least 12 hours, ideally 24 hours.
- Apply standard base material over the Metal Grip and sand/file to a smooth finish.
